Ryan Wexelblatt, LCSW – 3 CEU’s

9:30 to 12:30

January 20, 2022

A live interactive training using the Zoom Pro platform

Price per person $89

Description

Mild neurodevelopmental challenges such as ADHD, Asperger’s syndrome and higher-verbal autism can often appear similar and frequently are misdiagnosed.  This training will help participants understand the scope of these diagnostic profiles, how they are frequently misdiagnosed, and the limitations of typical mental health interventions for these diagnostic profiles.  Participants will learn how executive functioning and social learning challenges can impact learning, behavior and mental health interventions.

Training Objectives:

Participants will:

1. Understand ADHD/Asperger’s/higher-verbal ASD to be a continuum of lagging skills and learning issues
rather than isolated mental health diagnoses.

2. Develop an understanding of the nuanced differences in these profiles, that are not part of the DSM-V

3. Understand executive functioning, social cognitive skills and social learning challenges as they pertain to
ADHD, Asperger’s and higher-verbal autism spectrum diagnoses.

4. Understand the limitations of evidenced-based interventions and working with families who are opposed
to medication as part of treatment.

5. Learn at least three strategies to improve emotional regulation, executive functioning and social cognitive
skills.
